With Rob away this week, Rebecca was joined by Jane from Neighbourhood Support, sharing some helpful reminders to keep the community safe.
There’s been a recent spike in bike and e-bike thefts, with opportunists targeting easy wins - so the advice is to use high-quality locks and secure both the frame and wheels. There are also ongoing concerns around fuel theft, particularly in rural areas, with tips including security lighting, locking fuel tanks, and monitoring usage. A handy tip too... park vehicles with fuel caps close to a wall or another car to limit access.
Jane also reinforced the importance of reporting suspicious activity. Call 111 if it’s happening now, or use 105 (phone or online) for non-urgent reports.
Finally, a reminder of the power of community. Get to know your neighbours, share contact details, and consider setting up a Neighbourhood Support group to help look out for each other.
