Whakatāne District Council have today lifted the boil water notice for Murupara, that had been in place since February 10th.
The notice had been issued when routine testing revealed elevated levels of e-coli in the Murupara drinking water supply.
The water supply was dosed daily with a hypochlorite solution from February 10th-14th to address the contamination issue, and a boil water notice was issued to Murupara residents.
Daily water testing following the initial treatment showed negative results for the presence of e-coli, however Council required a clear run of testing for one week following the completion of treatment was needed to lift the boil water notice.
Whakatāne District Council thanks people in Murupara for their patience, and for following the advice given while the boil water notice was in place.
