Both Whakatāne and Kawerau District Councils have announced a delay in final election results.
Final results for Whakatāne will become available on Saturday. However, the Kawerau District Council have not specified a day.
Results had been originally due to come out today.
The delay is due to a large volume of special votes received towards the end of the voting period last week, which has caused a delay in finalising the count.
It's expected to increase the overall voter turnout percentage for both districts, with Whakatāne currently sitting at 44.3% and Kawerau at 41.3%.
