This weekend marks the annual Eastern Bay Vintage Car Club's Daffodil Rally For Cancer.

Drivers will gather at The Hub in Whakatāne at 1pm on Sunday, each contributing a $10 donation to the Cancer Society.

The vehicles will be parked up for about an hour at The Hub. The public are invited to come along to the event to view the cars on display.

The Vintage Car Club will then lead a cruise through town. With Ford New Zealand backing the event this year, the procession will finish at Ocean Ford.

Club President, Bevan Lange says they had around 110 vehicles show up at The Hub last year.

"We're very, very fortunate to have a really amazing community of car enthusiasts here that get out and support a really good cause like this," Lange says.

"There's numerous charity events in the community throughout the year and we're very, very lucky that people get on board and come out and support these things."

The event happens on a national level with a target to raise a total of around $100,000 for the cause.

All donations made in the Eastern Bay will go to the local Cancer Society.
