It's celebrations all around for Ōpōtiki rugby star, Luka Connor and the Tāneatua Senior Men's Rugby team after a successful night at the 2022 Zespri Bay of Plenty Rugby Union Awards on Wednesday night.
Luka Connor was awarded Volcanix Player of the Year and Bay of Plenty Rugby Sports Person of the Year.
It follows a significant year for Connor who has been a stand out player for the Bay of Plenty Volcanix, Gallagher Chiefs and Black Ferns.
Connor has also been named in the starting line up for the Black Ferns opening match against Australia for the Women's Rugby World Cup tomorrow night.
The Tāneatua Senior Men's Rugby team were also awarded 2022 Club of the Year..
The team were facing Greerton Marist Recreation and Community Sports Club, Mount Maunganui Rugby Club and Te Puna Rugby Football Club for the top title.
It ends a successful year back in the senior men's competition for Tāneatua, who claimed winning streaks throughout the season and finished up in the Division 2 finals.
