Public consultation on a proposed second toll point on the Tauranga Eastern Link Toll Road closes tonight, with submissions accepted until 5pm.
The proposal is for a second toll point to be installed between the Pāpāmoa East and Domain Road interchanges.
Completion of the interchange will create a shorter journey on the toll road, so NZTA is proposing the additional toll point to ensure motorists using this section also contribute to debt repayment.
Light vehicles would be charged $1.10 for using the shorter section of road, while heavy vehicles would pay $2.80.
NZTA are reminding motorists that there would be no change to the cost of travelling the full length of the toll road, and that motorists would only be charged once per journey.
This means drivers would either pay at the existing toll gantry or at the new toll point when entering or exiting via the Pāpāmoa East Interchange - not both.
Susan Collins, Regional Manager of System Design for NZTA is encouraging anyone intending to make a submission to do so before the deadline.
“We’re committed to hearing from the community and value your input as part of this important process.”
Submissions can be made at NZTA's website.
