Fire Crews Attend Scrub Fire Along SH30 near Whakatane

Fire crews attended a scrub fire along State Highway 30 just outside Whakatāne, this afternoon.

A witness told 1XX News, the fire is on the left hand side of the highway between Kope Drain and Fortune Roads.

A Fire and Emergency spokesperson said they received the call around 2:20pm Wednesday and one fire truck is on scene, “dampening down a few spots.”

It was one of several callouts across the Bay of Plenty today.

Two boats and a pier were damaged in an early morning blaze at Tauranga Marina, Bay of Plenty Times reports.
