Four People Rescued From Barge In Ōpōtiki

Emergency services were called to the Ōpōtiki Harbour yesterday to rescue four people from a barge.

Police were called to the scene at around 5.19pm after a barge lost anchor and a hole punctured the stern of the boat.

"Four people were airlifted from the vessel. No injuries were reported," A Police spokesperson says.

"A tugboat is enroute to Ōpōtiki to assist with the retrieval of the barge."
