A tourism company wants their health and safety charge, relating to the 2019 Whaakari/White Island eruption, dropped.
ID Tours New Zealand, are charged with not ensuring the health and safety of tourists on the island.
It's one of several parties charged by WorkSafe, for alleged health and safety breaches, prior to the eruption.
The hearing starts at 11:45am today, in the Whakātane District Court.
A case review hearing will take place tomorrow from 10am, also in the Whakātane District Court.
Tomorrow's hearing comes ahead of the trial, which starts in July and is expected to last four months.
Since the last hearing in November 2022, GNS Science's bid to get a separate trial was dismissed, last month.
Judge Evangelos Thomas ruled, a busy court schedule meant a separate trial would not start, until late next year.
The charges don't relate to the events of the eruption of the rescue efforts.
