An investigation is underway into what caused the large fire at the Ōpōtiki Laundromat and Bakehouse along Church Street.
Emergency services received a call around 11pm Sunday with Fire and Emergency sending nine trucks from across the Eastern Bay to the scene as well as additional support vehicles.
The Bakehouse and Laundromat buildings were well involved by the time crews arrived before it was extinguished while another two nearby buildings were smoke logged.
Fire and Emergency said the last truck left the scene around 3am Monday.
Police said the fire is being treated as suspicious and “there were no reported injuries.”
Fire and Police investigators are conducting scene examinations on site to determine the cause of the fire.
