Staff and customers at Jewelz in Whakatāne are in shock after a man smashed a glass cabinet and stole G Shock watches today.
Owner Angelia Le Sueur said the man entered the store on The Strand around midday today wearing a hoodie.
Le Sueur was behind the counter when she heard a loud bang and turned around and said she couldn’t believe there was a guy smashing the cabinet.
“He did leave the shop quite quickly because I was yelling at him,” Le Suer said.
She said bystanders ran after the man but he went down Boon Street toward the Council building “and got away from there.”
Le Sueur said it was very frightening for the staff and customers who were inside the shop when it happened.
She’s urging anyone who saw any G Shocks for sale to let Police know “or help us identify who this guy is.”
