Motorists Urged To Drive Safe, After Multiple Fatalities on BOP Roads

Motorists are urged to drive safe this summer - after multiple fatalities on Bay of Plenty roads, just hours apart.


One person has died after a serious two-vehicle crash in the Kaimai Ranges on Thursday.


“A second person was critically injured and a third had moderate injuries,” Police said.


It follows a serious crash in Mount Maunganui on Wednesday night - that killed one person and injured another.


Police said inquiries into Wednesday's crash are ongoing to determine the cause of the crash.


The holiday road toll is at nine.


The provisional road toll sits at 333 nationwide


Ministry of Transport data shows 30 people have died on our roads nationwide in December alone.


24 people have died on Bay of Plenty roads this year - with six occurring this month alone.
