One Dead Following Ōpōtiki Crash

One person has died following a single vehicle crash in Ōpōtiki this morning.

Emergency services were called to the crash on Otara Road at around 7:50am.

"Sadly, the driver of the truck died at the scene. There were no other occupants of the truck," a Police spokesperson says.

Police are providing support to the next of kin.

Police advise, the Serious Crash Unit are carrying out a scene examination and enquiries into the cause of the crash are ongoing.

Otara Road remains closed.
