Police Crack Down On Drug Offending Across Eastern Bay

A 42-year old man was due to appear in the Whakatāne District Court on Saturday facing numerous charges.

It followed a Police operation on Friday, targeting drug offending in Eastern Bay.

"A Police Precision Targeting Team executed a search warrant at an Edgecumbe address, where a man linked to the Head Hunters was believed to be supplying methamphetamine to the community," a Police spokesperson says.

Officers located two firearms, ammunition, and methamphetamine, along with other evidence.

"Police have charged the man with breaching detention conditions, possession of methamphetamine for supply, failing to carry out obligations in relation to a computer search, and firearms-related charges." the spokesperson says.

"Police continue to actively pursue those exhibiting criminal behaviour and increasing community harm."

As the matter is now before the Court, Police are unable to provide further comment.
