The month of May is not just the start of cooler weather, but it also marks the Westpac Chopper Appeal Month, bringing the sound of helicopter blades not only to our skies, but also to our airwaves.
This year, Westpac is launching a unique “TV takeover” campaign, blending the sound of rescue helicopter blades into well-known ads from trusted Kiwi brands such as Toyota, Lotto NZ, Spark, Chorus, Z Energy, and Turners.
The aim? To catch the attention of viewers and listeners, encouraging them to support a cause these brands are backing, our local rescue helicopters.
Last Year saw a total of Last year, 9,289 potentially lifesaving missions flown by the national network of rescue helicopters. With these services being vital here in the Bay of Plenty with 568 of those call outs being in our region.
"Rescue Chopper crews do a wonderful job all day, everyday, all around the country, to help keep communities safe" Westpac NZ Chief Executive, Catherine McGrath "The money raised goes towards supporting the provision of these essential services, which cost more every year, making public support as important as ever."
McGrath will also be joining senior Westpac leaders around the country for the annual Chopper Street Appeal Day on Thursday, 8 May—shaking buckets and collecting donations on street corners.
