Two People Arrested Following Whakatāne Assault

Whakatāne Police are searching for a male in connection with a serious assault last Thursday morning.


Police were called to the scene on Goulstone Road at approximately 8.45am.


"Three males were seen to attack a single male as he left the dairy," says Senior Sergeant Helen Hay.


"Two people have been arrested in relation to this assault and a further person is being sought by Police," Hay says.


"A 28-year-old man is due to appear in Whakatāne District Court today facing a charge of aggravated robbery and injures – intent to GBH," a Police spokesperson says.


"A 19-year-old man has been remanded in custody set to reappear in the Whakatāne District Court on 21st August facing a charge of aggravated robbery and injures – intent to GBH,"
