A very wet November has caused for Whakatāne fear for it's second place spot in the 2022 Sunshine Hours Race.
According to NIWA's Seasonal Climate Database, Whakatāne recorded 216 hours of sunshine in November, now slipped back 63 hours behind 2021 winner, New Plymouth.
Whakatāne still remains in second place, but an exceptionally wet November saw Richmond, who is currently in third place, climb to sit only 7 hours behind Whakatāne.
It's been an exceptionally wet past 6 months for Whakatāne, who has recorded 2300 hours year to date.
Kawerau recorded 159 hours last month, is 496 hours behind New Plymouth and is 10th on the leader board.
