It was a weekend of hot temperatures and sunshine in the Eastern Bay.
Whakatāne was named in NIWA's top five hottest locations around the country yesterday, with a temperature of 25.8 degrees Celsius.
Whakatāne placed third on the chart; Motu was named as second with 26.9 degrees Celsius, Tutira as fourth at 25.7 and Gisborne as fifth with 25.3.
Napier was named as the number one hottest location yesterday at 27.3 degrees Celsius. NIWA have claimed Napier's scorcher day as the North Island's warmest temperature so far this spring.
