A baby pukeko has been left motherless after its mother was run over by police during the attacks on Friday 15th March.

Luckliy for the baby police offers picked up the baby and dropped it off to the South Island Wildlife Hospital.

The Christchurch-based wildlife hospital said on Facebook officers arrived with the baby pukeko wrapped up in a police uniform.

Once dropping the baby pukeko off the police officer had to ask for something to wash the pukeko poop off her machine gun, sounds like a movie script.
