Do you have an old car or boat battery lying around? The 35 Squadron Whakatane Air Training Corps will come and collect it as part of their Fundraising Battery Drive on 27 July 2019. All funds raised will go towards their flying camp held at Whakatane Airport. For more information text 027 209 9699.

Mid Winter Swim 

Love your budgie smugglers!

It doesn’t matter whether you wear boardies, bikinis or something outrageous, the One Double X Mid-Winter Swim will get your goosies going. There are great prizes including five hundred dollars’ worth of New World Whakatane Gift Cards, with prizes for best dressed, spot prizes, and you’ll get a hot cup of soup to warm up AND you get to keep the cup! Your gold coin entry goes to St John and the Nippers Programme. The One Double X Mid-Winter Swim, at the Whakatane Surf Club 11am Sunday July 28th with New World Whakatane - registrations from 10am.

Film night - Apollo 11

50 years ago, on 21 July 1969, Neil Armstrong became the first person to step onto the lunar surface.  To commemorate this significant event, we are hosting a fund-raising event at Whakamax.  Experience man';s first steps on another world with this documentary.  "Apollo 11" is a cinematic event 50 years in the making.  Featuring never-before seen large format film footage of one of humanity's greatest accomplishments.
