Motorists travelling between Otamarakau and Matatā should allow extra time as crews carry out scaling and blasting work near Herepuru Road this week.
Motorists can expect delays on State Highway 2 near Matatā from midday Tuesday, 13 October, as crews undertake slip safety work to reduce the risk of debris reaching the highway.
NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) said traffic will be stopped in both directions for intervals of approximately 10 minutes while crews carry out scaling and blasting work near Herepuru Road.
The work is aimed at improving road safety by removing unstable material and reducing the risk of further slip debris falling onto the state highway.
The traffic management operation may continue through to Friday, 16 October, with work scheduled between 8am and 5pm each day.
A temporary speed limit of 50km/h is in place near the work site.
NZTA is advising motorists to allow extra time for their journeys, follow the directions of traffic management staff and approach the area with care.
