State Highway 2 Reopens Following Fatal Crash

NZTA said the road has reopened but motorists should drive to the conditions.

NZTA said "The road is clear but please drive to conditions and take your time through the area."

Police said one person was found deceased at the two vehicle crash on State Highway 2/Matawai Road, Waipaoa.

Another person received serious injuries and was transported to hospital by ambulance.

Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.

Hato Hone St John was notified of the crash at 6:49 this morning.

One ambulance and one rapid response vehicle responded to the scene.

One patient was transported to Gisborne Hospital in a serious condition.
