A body has been found near the eastern side of the Ohiwa Harbour mouth, overnight.
Eastern Bay Area Commander, Inspector Nicky Cooney said the body is “likely to be the man who fled Police on Christmas Day.”
A 48-year-old man jumped into the water Wednesday night and was last seen swimming into the outgoing tide.
Cooney said procedures are ongoing to identify the body.
“Police would like to thank our partner agencies, searchers, and the community for their support during this time,” Cooney said.
The death will be referred to the Coroner.
