Galatea topped the charts this morning for it's exceptionally cool autumn temperature.
Figures from MetService revealed Galatea was the coldest spot in the North Island this morning at 1.8 degrees Celsius.
It was a cold morning across the Bay of Plenty as Whakatāne was named the fourth coldest spot with 3.4 degrees Celsius. Rotorua took second place on the charts with 2.8 degrees Celsius.
Waiouru and New Plymouth were named second and fifth coldest, with 3.2 and 3.6 degrees Celsius.
The colder than usual March temperatures is due to a cold front which has pushed up across the country. As a result, some early autumn snow has fallen on Mt Ruapehu and Mt Taranaki.
