Youth Appears In Court Following Whakatāne Vape Store Ram Raid

A 17 year old is due to appear in the Rotorua District Court today for charges relating to the ram raid at a Whakatāne vape store last week.

The youth is facing several burglary and stolen vehicle charges, relating to last week's incident among others.

It comes, after four people used a stolen vehicle from Rotorua to ram the doors of the Goulstone Road vape store in the early hours of last Tuesday. The group then stole vaping products before they fled in a getaway car.

Rotorua Area Prevention Manager, Inspector Phil Gillbanks hopes the arrests provide reassurance to the community.

"We're committed to holding offenders to account." Gillbanks says.
