Whakatāne District Council said the repairs to a leaking water mains pipe have been completed, and the unplanned water shutdown was not required.
Earlier today, the council warned it was carrying out emergency, which could require a water shutdown from 10.00am.
Council said contractors were able to carry out the work without interrupting the water supply, so residents and businesses in the affected area "continued to receive water throughout the repair."
"We're pleased the issue was able to be resolved with minimal disruption to the community."
